Alrighty..something pretty interesting here. I've never heard of stuff like this before, and honestly now it happened, I don't wanna look it up at the wiki or something, and spoil my excitement over this:
The second my 7 dwarves appeared on my most recent embark, the game paused, and zoomed to an area 40 z levels below my starting place. It was all dark, unknown territory; an announcement stated "a section of the cave has collapsed" - or something to that effect.
Now, let me tell you a couple of three things.
- I thought cave-ins were disabled in recent versions of the game?
- Why would I get a message about something that happened in uncharted territory, 40z levels below?
- What can possibly cause a cave-in right after the game starts, not during world-gen, and without my dwarfs doing anything?
There's no scraps in my scrapbook.
I asked myself these questions at the embark, but after 5 minutes I had forgotten all about the incident. It would soon enter my thoughts again, though.
When my fortress was about 1 year old, I appointed a record keeping noble, and decided to check my stocks and the now more accurate numbers.
The following is what I found in my weapon stocks - note that I haven't forged or bought a single weapon yet (I'm probably gonna have some Fun with that):
1x Copper Battle Axe, from embark.
2x Copper Pick, from embark.
1x Adamantine Two-Handed sword
Here's the description of the sword:
"This is a masterful adamantine two-handed sword created by an unknown artisan".
I couldn't for the life of me figure out how I got that thing into my weapon stocks. So I turned my attention to another question: "who's wielding this thing?!"
I zoom to the sword. It takes me to a dark, unknown place...40 z levels below.
...yeah.
I can almost hear it calling me...
