*The roughly three dozen Hiveships break away from the asteroid belt and start heading for the superjovian, a film of nightmare coating them and making them drift though the fabric of space like fish through water. Upon entering its orbit, they send out a message, using rather more normal means of communication than dumping words directly into minds.*
T: "To all receivers within the system: As of now, this is Hivefleet Azarel. Due to the attack some time ago, we request to requisition part of the superjovian's mass for this system's defense purposes. We await your answer."

*Meanwhile, in Amity and Crystal's room, a soft noise issues from the floor.*
A: "... 106, *swish* 107, 108, 109, *swish* 110..."

((Edited bc. I can't count.))

T: "Very well."
*The ships begin unraveling long feeder-tendrils and start to siphon the outer layers of the planet through them, slowly drinking of the world.*

*The red panda is on the floor, doing one-arm push-ups on her knuckles, swiftly switching arms mid-air every three push-ups. She seems rather focused on a small spot on the floor, directly beneath her face.*

*Vorthon and the gnome are wandering around, talking.*

"You seem depressed. What's wrong?"

"*Sigh*. It's, well... it's stupid really. You'd just laugh."

"I promise, I won't."

"*Sigh*. Well, I'm actually kinda jealous of Yumi and Aegis. I'm kind of stuck being single. Y'see, we Torikan... we're a little odd... If I were to find somebody to spend my life with... well, I wouldn't be myself anymore. There'd be... psychological changes. Big ones. Changes I'm not entirely sure I'd be comfortable with. So, here I am, between a rock and a hard place."

"Ah. I see. Must be horrible for you."

"*sigh*. Yeah..."

"Not physical. Psychological. Mental. I'd basically be only borderline sentient. Completely complacent. I happen to like being fully sentient..."

"Blame genetic engineering and neurochemistry. I'm just lucky I'm from one of the less... extreme... Torikan cultures. Let's just say some of them emulate black widow spiders in behaviour...*shudders*"
