T: "I suggest long range bombardment. Guided projectiles or unmanned weapon platforms. Support with targeting scramblers. They will likely use EM-based targeting, as mass detectors are too unreliable to pinpoint projectiles. Ascertaining the nature of the threat is paramount. Until we can safely say that anyone sent onboard will survive to do some damage, it is folly to send in boarders. I will soon have some... contingencies take course. Being stranded on a planet is not particularly customary of Tyranids."

"Point defense systems can be overloaded. It's why there are a lot of rockets with multiple warheads these days- if you attack a ship with enough separate warheads at once, some of them are bound to get through."

[Taricus]

"Depends on th PD system."

[Phantom]

"Yes, what if they reflect it back?"

[Twi]

"There's no such thing as a PD system that can handle infinite numbers of rockets, and if there is then I want it. Energy shielding, however, is a different matter entirely, but those tend not to be indestructible either."

[Phantom]

"Yeah, and the hull is something else too. What material is that thing made of?"

T: "Regardless. Our best course of action is fire saturation. It should work. Eventually. If you do not run out of ammunition. If we can get boarding systems in, the first can be automated and gauge environment hostility and hull strength."

*Amity taps a wall with a knife's handle.*
A: "Kata! You said you built this bucket. Can you build me a chem sprayer? Forcefield-based piping and reservoir? I wanna torch things."

"With Ivy and Jack. Now, can I build you one of those... Hmm. Maybe, maybe not. I'll see what I can do."

"Well, firing a whole lot of projectiles at it is always a good idea. Assuming we have the projectiles."

[Phantom]

"Do we have the projectiles? I don't remember any missiles last time."

[Twi]

"I'm afraid I don't. There are bombardment ships, for which launching lots of rockets is the entire point, but I don't think we have any of those. We could always use the Tyranids, though. They're pretty good at that stuff."

[Phantom]

"I guess we're pretty underpowered compared to that thing? The Tyranids don't have much in the way of Space combat right now. Or going into space in general."

[Taricus]

"Then don't fight them in space, a large enough weapon on the surface could blow the thing apart, or we could lie low and wait for them to land."
