What Dariel sees is puzzling.

There's a tall human in 21st century formal attire, plus a trenchcoat which appears to contain many, many firearms.  Well, he would be human, but his eyes glow green. And his face is hidden behind a nondescript white mask.

He's shooting a group of hippos for dear life while yelling expletives. What.

"Shut the hell up! I can take them!" the man yells. He suddenly pulls out what looks like a giant shotgun from his trenchcoat and blasts all but one hippo to bits. The last one he just clubs to death.

He then retrieves the firearms into his trenchcoat and talks as if nothing had happened.
"So I don't suppose there's a town around here?"
