"If you see any white flesh similar to a hardboiled egg, that's mine. And Jack, what the hell were you like when you were a kid?"

"...I see. Also, ancient immortals don't really have childhoods."

"At all? At least tell me about your first 50 years."

"I don't know exactly how I came into being, I've been around that long. I was one of the first generation of immortals- the mythical figures of early cultures. Though most died out or were incorporated into other beliefs, I lived on. But the first 50 years? A fun time, but 50 years is nothing to me. After assembling a few masks, I promptly gained my reputation for politeness, class...and mischief." He laughs.

"Heh. Like a few Daemons in my world. I guess most of the years were the same? I guess you can just tell me what happened to you in the 19th to 20th century."

"The 19th century was a good time, given what came next. People still believed in honor, love, virtues, and yet the humans made massive technological advances. I was pretty quick to capatalize on them."
He pauses, and shudders.
"And then came the trenches...Dear god, the trenches."

"We had trenches back in the 40th Millennium. Except it was worse than the War To End All Wars. Thankfully I didn't get to go in the trenches. So, how was the Cold War for you?"

"Cold War put me in a position to be a great mover and shaker. There, information was what mattered. And information I could access, easily. But in the end, both sides were not good enough to side with one or the other. Capitalists were generally nicer than Communists, but they had this nasty habit of supporting people much less nice than themselves. Personally, I preferred the Roaring Twenties...but they felt...hollow, almost. The cheer was but a facade. Not to say I don't put up such facades myself. On the other hand, I simply cannot think of anything better. After that, things never got any better. There was always trouble somewhere."

Berkar pauses for a moment, and continues.
"Never liked either of those eras. I preferred the late 1800's. There were still pretty good moments at that time. And one question, did you have anything to do with the Hungarian Revolution back in '56?"

Jack nods.
"Indeed, those were my favorite times as well. Then the Great War happened... and then it all went downhill, and was never nearly as good as it had been before the war, not even in your own time. As for the Hungarian Revolution? Well, I did support the revolutionaries at several points. But I did not start it, though I did try to nudge it along."

Thera puts Taric back on the bed.
"You sound like you still need a little rest."

"Well, that's strange. Anyway does he still have his exosuit on, or did he strengthen his immune system?"
