Easy, parasite tranferable from fish, but resistent to cold. Since sushi shop only use freezing , we could get a good foothold. Also, we would get all of asia in a heartbeat, and most big citys.

What about California? Somewhere like San Diego or L.A.? People there are more relaxed and live a slower-paced lifestyle comparatively, so if our less than intelligent parasite is only capable of saying "Dude", "yeah", and "like", it wouldn't be so noticeable.

@ GlyphGryph: If we pick New York over (let's say) Alabama, do we have to worry about the increased security? (For example, the police stationed in the metro that check up on "suspicious" characters in Manhattan)

Sushi idea sounds fantastic - though we might have some trouble spreading in some States.

Edit: If we go with the tiny brain parasite, we could even get an extra point if we take a weakness in heat. Heating us up hot enough enough will kill the infection, but will also do significant damage the host's brain from the fever. "If we can't have the body, no one can!"

I motion for a meshlike, independent neural net not unlike a small brain wrapped around the brainstem. It puts us in a position that is rather hard to remove without killing the host, as well as a direct line into the involuntary functions of the host and perhaps a way to hook directly into the spinal cord and bypass the brain entirely. We can also spread across the surface of the brain in later stages if need be, creating more surface area for control and eventually replacement of the neurons.

Yes, New York City would have much increased security against obvious threats as opposed to rural New York, and probably a higher security level than even a remotely  comparable city in Alabama. However, you also have the benefit of people paying much less attention to you individually due to the sheer masses of the city, especially in certain sections. Unless you're actively attacking people in broad daylight, its easier to pass as some sort of druggie or bum or other "person to be ignored" by the masses.

The country, however, may help you find people that are isolated and less able to go for help or have the authorities respond in time. Small towns would be less able to muster up much less of a defense once the situation became obvious, making you harder to stop, but are also much easier to quarantine. Climate will also have an effect.

This is a very nice weakness! It would be worth... I'll say 3 points. While many people have it and would thus be immune or even dangerous, there are obvious complications, and it would be fairly difficult for the average person to actually find it if they discovered it was your weakness.

Sickle cell to a lesser extent because there is a certain percentage of the world's population that has enough sickled cells to provide the benefits of the disease (malaria doesn't really affect them).

Also, AIDS is the condition that develops due to HIV.

If we take the HIV vulnerability, we should also adopt a suitable disease to complement our parasite. That way if we do encounter individuals with HIV who we can't take over, our disease complement will wreak havoc on their immune system - if they don't die as a result, then at least their capacity to oppose the infected will be diminished.

This would simply be a rationale for any increased in reflexes, basically. You'd have to get rid of unaware first before you could purchase improved reflexes though.
