You almost certainly have had a blood test befoe

Apparently not, according to my parents and the medical history available to my doctor.

They stick you and then like 30s later you're done.

This is the entire process.

Well, there's rather a lot more to it than that. It's all the donor is involved in, though.

Still stung, and felt weird. But at least I'm not a fainter, and it's not as bad as a dental filling. But I've been told my dentist is a butcher, so maybe fillings aren't normally as bad as his.

The nurse said this sounds like it was my first proper check-up. It was the first known time I had my blood pressure taken, and my first urine test as well. My family doctor doesn't normally do much unless you are already very obviously ill.

When you hurt yourself at work, it is generally a surprise. This helps you deal with it. When you go for a blood test, you know exactly what's going to happen, which gives you time to brood on it. Your attitude is entirely rational.

Didn't really help that a friend recently got her own blood test done, and the doctor missed the vein without realizing it right away. Her arm looked pretty bad afterwards.

When I donate blood I am always deeply grateful I have basically the world's most findable veins (bodybuilders excepted). Glad your nurse didn't miss. :P

OCLC firstsearch finally cut us off. Went from most items searched for having records, some of them even decent, to many not and those there having good odds of being shite (library of congress has records on damn near everything you might put in a library. Outside of kids books for whatever reason, most of them are varyingly terrible). Basically it's become like 50/50 odds trying to put a book or movie into our system will be a significant pain in the ass.

Copy cataloging has left easy modo difficultly, right after the person who's been doing cataloging work longer than I've been alive, retired. Also it's apparently a fucking nightmare to massage text copies of marc records into something our ILS won't basically shit itself over, so I can't even default to idly yoinking other library's record. i mean, i can still yoink them but it's only a step away from original cataloging in terms of effort, there's nothing idle about it also I'm super unsure about the ethics/legality of it ahaha

Save me :(

Time to make a macro that pulls the info out of others website, sit back and safely ignore you job, then scram when your employers find out you haven't been working.

Do they not consider improved efficiency through automation to be useful work?

Very useful. So useful that you can fire your employee and it still runs!

Many horror histories like that in the old programming forums.

If I could, I would (well, after clearing it with the boss). I can't even figure out how to get the data I pull manually from other websites to cooperate, nevermind getting a macro to work :P
