In the past few days my gums have been bleeding. Just mildly, usually when pressure was put on them due to facial expressions or eating or w/e.
My first thought was possible scurvy, so I smashed a heap more vitamin C into my diet. Then I did a bit of googling and was told that it can also be a symptom of jaggedy-ass bits of built-up plaque. Okay, sure, I try to brush thoroughly but I don't do it as often as I should, and I can't remember the last time I flossed. I buy that.
So I made vague, non-commital plans to arrange to see a doctor at some point in the future, once my current causes of stress have died down and my schedule freed up - whenever that may be.
Today, though, it's been seeming to happen more, plus I think I've noticed a bit of shifting in some of my teeth when I flex my jaw certain ways.
Just a little while ago tonight, I'd been probing around over my gross-ass teeth with my tongue and discovered what felt like a patch or two of ragged gums. This discovery was preceded and accompanied by increased bleeding.
Just now I went to have a go at brushing this mess (I've been a bit more diligent than usual with my attempts at dental hygiene since this started, funny how that works innit) only to discover the bleeding has become quite pronounced, seemingly coming mostly from a point on the outer right side of my gums, where I felt those ragged parts.
I had a peek in my gob, shining a torch (flashlight) in there, and hoo boy there is quite a bit of blood. And weirdness. I'm not even really sure quite what it is I'm looking at, there.
I had been thinking it'd be worthwhile seeing a dentist at some point for the first time in years, now I'm starting to wonder if I wouldn't be better off running to a doctor about this first chance I get.
