I mean, if you're going to define the kilogram or whatever it was with an arbitrary value that requires a perfectly round super sphere, you might as well have it defined by a mystical craftsman who nooone will ever be able to replicate I guess? It's not like it could just be some mathematical constant or something, like the meter is.

Am I wooshing this again? What guy?

Same articles I read also mention pushes to redefine the kilogram to an actual constant.

Or you could stop failing to offer praise to our beloved mystical metromancer.

Is that the magic art of controlling every aspect of a large metropolitan area?

Well it better not be something oddly specific like the ability to change the subtrain schedule, or the ability to fulfil the requirements of the town planning office in light speed.

OK so let's discuss exactly what would happen if in filling out a document I put pen to paper and my hand accelerated to the speed of light.

Presuming that my own self is immune to the initial forces at hand, pun intended.

You would obliterate the office you were in for starters.

But how tho, specifically. And why.

Once your hand got fast enough, the atoms in it would begin to fuse. The resulting thermonuclear explosion would destroy the office building at the very least.

I was going to post the same what-if, but that what-if is only at 90% speed of light. If you got a macro-scale mass like your hand as close as possible to the speed of light, then you're more on the scale of this video (7 minutes long):

Any activity involving sitting in a circle with a bunch of strangers for no apparent reason. I feel as though the flesh is being scoured from my bones by their eyes.

When I was taken to rehab, they transported me in leg irons and manacles. Everyone thought I was a serial killer at first and it pretty much cured me of group based social anxiety because they were low key frightened of me. Now when I get nervous with groups I think of that moment and their wide-eyed looks of fear and just bull through my anxiety.

That's pretty hilarious. Also, thanks for the tip. If I ever get taken anywhere I'm gonna ask that they do that for me.

I would say no, as long as it doesn't impede your speech. :3
