I would guess michigan or somewhere else in the northern midwest u.s.

Hellish snowstorms there.

South Dakota. In the Black Hills. Right outside the edge of the Badlands. And... Holy shit, most of these names make me feel like I was raised in Supervillain State.

... Scary names, harsh climate, bitter disillusionment... Oh god, I am a supervillain!

I believe my coldest ever was the first big polar vortex, where the ambient temp got to 0 but the wind chill got to -50. Literally worse than Antarctica or Mars.

And I had to walk through it too, or else go without food for about two days. Better off than my roommate though, he didn't even have any heavy winter gear and so just mummified himself in his blanket. It...sort of worked?

It sounds like you, too, live in that frozen place called the Northern Great Plains (US)/central Canada (Canada).

Today I heard it was 120 degrees (F) over in Phoenix, Arizona.  I don't live anywhere near there, much less have any intention of going, but it sounds utterly awful.

Well it is back up to a toasty 12 degrees now, thank the gods.
Wait, what god is one supposed to thank for weather related things, anyway?

In other Terrifying news, I am out of sugar. I don't think I'm quite tough enough to drink my black coffee without at least one sugar... I really would rather not have to leave the house and drag my hungover carcass to the supermarket, though. Ugh.

Not exactly a god, but St. Peter is the relevant halodude, I think.

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

My hearing feels like it is getting worse. For years my hearing had been moderately bad, but stable; now I don't know why but it's plummeting. Even things that I have on what is supposedly a low volume seem to make my ears all fatigued, and for the first time I can remember (after listening to loud music my entire adult life, mind) I've been getting tinnitus .
As far as I can tell, all this started with those cheap $10 earphones I resorted to using, being too frugal to like the idea of spending any more money on still sub-par headphones until I could afford the expensive pair I wanted, and now it just seems to be snowballing, with all the usual noisy things I do now negatively affecting my hearing when they never seemed to in the past. :(

Not entirely sure where that is, is that an abbreviated name?
Sounds cold tho.

Tried to kill a fly with some tissues, as it was on a corner too awkward for the swatter. I assumed the fly dead and began crunching the tissue up. The totally unharmed fly came from underneath the tissue and flew directly at my eye. There is now a fly in my house that has mastered the art of shinobi.

Sleep? Who needs that? I want to watch a guy walk into an abandoned mine with just a flashlight and encounter... noises.
