Reminds me of how we used to occasionally get helium-filled balloons that would lose their bouyancy, but only partway. So instead of sticking to the ceiling or sitting on the floor, they'd just hover at face height and drift up and down.

If the string wasn't too heavy when dragging on the ground, the balloon would just... wander. We'd stick it in a room and it would leave the room, float down the hall and drift silently across the house. Or you'd be doing something in the kitchen and it would sneak up behind you and jumpscare you when you turned around. Or maybe you're home alone sitting at your computer reading creepypasta and hear something bump super quietly against your door, and then look up to see the balloon slooowly but purposefully peeking around your doorframe.

All thanks to the wonky air currents in our house, but it didn't help that we'd draw faces on them.

I don't hear voices (anymore) and they didn't encourage violence (that was all me, reacting to shitty circumstances)...
But sometimes I wonder if some kind of demons are real...

There's basic impulse for vice, sure, but then sometimes there's an impulse for vice that has all the cunning of an entity.
