I believe that Pearce and his ilk could make this prophecy come true.

But seriously, it's basically just a short horror story on the internet.

A creepypasta literally means a short horror story that is copied and pasted over and over on the Internet.

But the modern definition of it seems to be a short horror story on the Internet written with the intent to convince the reader that it is true or at the very least creep out the reader by introducing them to a horrifying concept rather than using outright fear.
