Really? Aight, hornets are pretty rare where I live, so the only ones I've seen kept building their nests in unfortunate places. Stealing food, buzzing around places we don't want them, that kind of thing.

It's less the shadow things themselves--they actually looked sorta goofy, and if they weren't the obvious villains and didn't soullessly move toward you at an alarming rate they mighta been kinda cute. But the sort of intense psychological effect those things chasing me through dark hallways and up a dead-end lighthouse had, combined with the game outright taking place in a dream, means that I seriously don't wanna accidentally focus on them before going to bed.

That said, I'm actually a pretty big fan of this guy's work, and I've played most of his games, but seriously just no with Deep Sleep. I liked Don't Escape 1 and 2 a lot--I'm a sucker for escape-the-room, so the inversion was fun, the multiple endings of and ways to finish 2 were really nice, and 3 was pretty fun as well if a bit overly fiddly and sorta predictable when it came to the true ending. A Small Talk and 400 Years were, for the lack of a better word, interesting--they had a sort of emotion at the end that's really rare for a flash game.

But reverse-jumpscare spoop skellington and Fern Gully Reject's 100-Meter Dash were plenty of outright horror for me. Not even taking my chances with Deeper or Deepest, this apparent game-over-inducing character the Jayisgames commenters kept talking about can stay well away from me and continue skulking in the recesses of Shockwave Flash.

...Best bet right now is probably to listen to some calming music and read a wacky badfic, so my dreams are about Toady's guitar solo and L stealthily jumping through the broken window screaming or something like that instead of people burning in furnaces and an Enderman's fat younger brother being overly protective of Steve?'s stuff.

I think the lucid dreaming part of Deep Sleep fucked me up for a while. It's like trying to not think of pink elephants. You know that your imagination will affect the dream world. You know you shouldn't think of th- oh fuck they're here. Welp. This is going to be a fuuuuuuuun dream.

Dreams... Dreams are nice. I don't have a great many of them, but the ones that show up are downright weird. The time Alien Davy Jones blew up the word with his spaceship full of kidnapped children and was then eaten by a cowboy's pet talking multiple-amputee octopus while I fought in a three-way-war with elves, demons, and magical pirates was especially fun. Or the recurring theme of pseudo-demonic entities telling me I'm cursed.

All those terrible reviews... should be exciting! I'm putting my most treasured possessions in my backpack rather than my suitcase, though, juuuust in case.

Fuck africanized bees, wasps, and hornets, but honeybees are chill. As long as you don't actively tick em' off, they'll avoid stinging you if at all possible.

Soma is really good.  I dunno if it's as scary as Amnesia, probably because there's people to talk to and your character self-narrates but it's scary on a more atmospheric and existential way.  You won't scream, but when you go to bed you'll think about it and it won't be good thoughts.

A dead man in a hallway, nearby a copy of his brain has been uploaded onto a robot.  The copy thinks it's the original and doesn't even realize it's in a robot body.  Robots screaming in pain and begging for their lives.  Robots telling you how you're gonna cry like a bitch when they kill you.

It takes the nerd religion of transhumanism and puts a really fucking distressing spin on it.

I had the same thing happen here in early August. The fire was about a hundred miles inland, and the air still looked like a foggy day.
