... you mean the pages of your textbooks weren't made from gun cotton? What kind of backwards hellhole did you attend?

You know that feeling just before you're sick where you can feel your muscles trying to tense and you get that weird taste/sensation on your tongue and you sweat a bunch?
Just had that but without actually being sick because I have impeccable stomach control.

Woke up at 3am today. All cool; I do my thang here and there. I go back to sleep.

Then I dream. Dream of being able to control the world. It scares me; puts me in deep apprehension. I somehow retained control of my body so I wake. Then almost immediately I go sleep again. I still feel the fear. Different dream; now I'm being chased.

I STILL RETAINED CONTROL and then nope'd out of existence.

man that was a bad dream

Was just out going for a walk around town at around 12:30 at night. Walked past the elementary school.
The paved area next to the building was dimly lit and deserted. The schoolyard was completely dark.
Sound of a child laughing started coming from somewhere in the area. Sounded like a little girl playing. Nobody was visible.
The voice started singing a sing-song children's song sounding thing, slightly off-key. More giggling.

My friend laughed at me for power-walking the rest of the way down the street.

Don't worry, it was just the black-eyed-kids, them modern day fairy-elf-vampire things, come looking for loners to torment.

You say you were surrounded by incessant cackling though? Neat. I was once walking my dog around midnight down in south Idaho and got spooked by fucking deer right across the street from city hall. Just chilling out eating our grass in the darkness of the park. :P

So when I heard what sounded like THE HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE I nearly shat myself.

I'm sure there's a funny anecdote on how you came to learn what the heat death of the universe sounds like, but I'm not so sure if I want to hear it, really.

I would assume heat death would sound like a whimper. "This is the way the world ends; not with a bang but a whimper."

So, KoSS obviously heard the sound of planes whimpering above him, and understandably nearly shat himself.

Heat death of the universe would have no sound, probably. It seems like the process would be extremely gradual.

The heat death would basically be the point where the universe has expanded so much and the total heat of the universe is so evenly distributed across the expanse that no heat could be transmitted anywhere to do anything useful.

It's not even the "end" of the universe per se, the universe is still there, it's just doing precisely nothing of interest.

It's not even the "end" of the universe per se, the universe is still there, it's just doing precisely nothing of interest.
It's the end in that it ceases to have any characteristics. Spacial dimensions are irrelevant when the universe is perfectly homogeneous (which as far as I am aware, would be a requirement for it to be in equilibrium), and because space won't change time isn't relevant either. So it exists as much as a thing with no properties can exist.
