I mean at least you get dreams. I've had maybe 2 in the past 3 months. Everything else has just been closing my eyes then opening them later.
I should probably be afraid of what my subconscious is keeping under lock and key.

I've always been exactly this way as well.  I've never had a lucid dream in my life.  I usually have some vague emotional residue when I wake up that vanishes within seconds as the only evidence of dream activity.  I've had something less than 20 dreams in my whole life that I was able to retain lasting memories from.

I'd say that's fairly normal, SG, if you aren't actively trying to remember them *through writing them down or something*. I've got a large number of nightmares comparatively, and a few more positive dreams if I try really hard to remember, but not all that many overall. Probably about 15.

I have the same problem with vaugue emotional residue.
Though I've had a lot more dreams than 20 I still don't dream more than maybe once every couple months and if I'm dreaming  more than that there's a good chance that they are self induced night mares (yup found out how to cause nightmares on myself just for entertainment every once in awhile) and I'm ok with not dreamingn because the emotionaly stuff that's been kinda there when I wake up isn't stuff I want to brush over so I'm good with no dreams

Actually, you need to wake up during REM sleep to remember dreams as far as I remember. Look it up and try setting an alarm to do that.

I have a stupid number of dreams if I sleep in. I used to be zealous about recording them but 20 dreams are just too much sometimes.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me last year. Wonky sleep patterns wreak havoc on your dreams.

I seriously get woken up from a car passing by the street outside sometimes.

To put this in perspective I live on the third level, on top of a hill.

And everyone I know who is able to vividly remember and lucidify their dreams is also a very light sleeper.

I'm a very, very deep sleeper.  I slept through lightning striking my house once.  I've gotten better, but I used to have to be shaken for like 10 minutes before I'd wake up... and then I could get up and be active for several minutes, fall back asleep, and have no memory of ever getting up.
