Speaking as a crazy furry bastard myself; theyre either paranoid the world is out to get them, want to get in touch with the predatory aspects of the animal they like most, or just appreciate a good boom stick.

Or maybe its just that knowing the rest of the community has no choice but to develop some respect for them as a legitimate gun-toting threat which should not be fucked with gives them the confidence to admit they have unpopular opinions/fetishes in "public."

People that often feel like they might be persecuted for one reason or another get... Nuts about something they consider protection usually. It's not always guns, sometimes it's even constructive.

I say this as someone with far too many guns though.
