'The home on  the mountain', yes. Could also mean 'the orphanage on the mountain'.

Ah. I was going for Mountainhome. Oh well. Dwarven forts do tend to become orphanages after a few years anyway :P

Only if those kids manage to survive the age where they make good shields. Dwarven parenting can be more leathal than overseer designed daycare services...

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

That would work too, I guess. 'Berghallen' (mountain halls) prolly would work better, or 'Bergfeste' (mountain fort, ancient sounding) if you're going for a more military connotation. Plus there's a city called Bergheim, making it kinda confusing.

'Berghallen' (mountain halls)
mountain hall*

(Sorry but that kind of stuck out like a sore thumb to me.)

Well, to make a proper home, you kinda need more than one hall - else it's just a 'Bergkaff', 'mountain hovel'.

The singular would be 'Berghalle', wouldn't it? Or is Hallen not the plural of Halle?

Hall*

Basically like in English, only difference is that it sounds somewhat different.

Yeah, exactly. By the way, there's also a city called 'Halle' here - if there really are dwarves in this world, they must be German.

Ninja: Naah, it's Halle. 'Hall' would be (an uncommon form of) 'echo'.

Today's German lesson/scriver annoy session brought to you by that one island with the funky moustache!

Adding 'en' means THAT speciffic thing. (Or 'et' as in "spöket", "THE Ghost". And "Ett spöke" ""A Ghost")
And 'ar' for plural. At least in Swedish. (However there is an expection where "spöken" might be plural for ghost as well.)
Danish might have 'erne' for THOSE halls.
Not sure about Norwegian though.

How difficult is it to learn Swedish when you're a native German speaker? I'd love to learn a Scandinavian language, if only because those countries are plain beautiful.

Nah, I was Germaning there, because I can't Swedize.
I have a test in German in like two days. Im'a die, Helgo. Im'a die so much, I allocated all my language acquisition points for this year in Lithuanian which wasn't even an obligatory course
But Lithuanian is like, so hot.

Not sure how difficult it is.. We have always spoken Swedish in my family.
As a Swedish saying goes. "It comes with the mother's milk."
(I might not have translated it correctly, and I may have messed the saying up a bit as well.)

Very un-difficult. Once you know one Germanic language, you know all of them.
