American politics is sort of like Warhammer 40k, or the Blood War in D&D, an unending and contentious conflict between two equally repellant factions.

That's equal repellancy on a theoretical level of course. Personally I marginally favor Liberalism, Chaos, the Demons/Tanar'ri, and Stalin, respectively.

How's this for terrifying-
Speed cameras are popping up in my area.
In the last 3 weeks both my mother & sister have received tickets through the mail. 11 & 8 over, respectively.

Say the mail never arrives?
You get a warrant for your arrest.
Say you weren't driving?
Prove it, it is assumed you're guilty.

This is fucked up, and I haven't seen talk of it anywhere. Completely blindsided me when the first family member got one- thought it might be a con.
This looks like mass-surveillance that enforces laws with terrifying efficiency-- at the least.

Personally, I support more speed cameras. Speeding (and breaking road laws in general) is dangerous. It's not like the govt's spying on your porn collection. Porn doesn't (usually) kill a dozen people over the course of a weekend.

Convince everyone to pull a France. They REALLY struggled to implement them because people did things like fill them with builder's foam.

Speed/traffic cameras at intersections in Spokane will flash for just about anything. Id be willing to bet it nets the city well over 30k a year in fines. A lot.


Anyway, in legit terrified news, there's nothing like being trapped in a flimsy metal-and-wood structure during a fuckall grand thunderstorm.

I wonder if its safe to run the generator despite the storm... Not good if the freezer thaws out.
