My laptop won't turn on or recognize the power cord is plugged in. Im just praying the battery just disconnected and nothing important is damaged, although I have no idea how it could have been damaged. Nothing I can do tonight, though, without light or tools, or knowledge of what should be plugged into where.

Try unplugging the cord from the wall and plug it back in, or put it in a different outlet, perhaps? Worked for me once.
A few minutes ago, there were some frighteningly loud footsteps coming from outside. I'm on the 2nd floor and have no clue what they were; luckily, whatever made them seems to have gone into the woods now. It was way too loud to be a canine of any sort, so I'm thinking the bears that used to live around here might've come back, which is just more nightmare fuel.

From now on I must assume, unless it is said otherwise, that all mention of "bears" is referring to hairy gay men. I feel that this will make my life better on a fundamental level.
