Well, I think the spoilers I've accidentally been exposed to on the internet lessened the shock somewhat for me.
Still, that was a nasty film. Surprisingly well made, though; not what I was expecting at all in terms of production value and performances!
I don't plan on watching it ever again, but it certainly was impressive.


...And then my friends and I watched an episode of Masters of The Universe for "brain bleach", but that was honestly more horrifying for me- I'm pretty sure I liked that show when I was a kid! The rose-tinted glasses were well-and-truly knocked off my head and stepped on. It was like watching my childhood wither before my eyes! D:
At least Skeletor was there. I know I was pro-HeMan when I was a little kid, but jeez. He's really the voice of sanity here.

I... Wouldn't be quite so sure.

Well, at least it was better acted and more engrossing, even if incredibly fucked up.
Also (at least some of) the soundtrack was really good. The credits music was hypnotic, I just sat there staring at it, somewhat in shock.

On the train. Just glanced at the network map to work out how much further I havd to go (I haven't been out this way in a while). Saw the stop I was at, but couldn't see the stop I'm going to on the same route.
Cue several seconds of crushing terror before I realised the relevant stops were simply listed on the other side of the line to save space. >.>
I'm pretty sure I've had the same scare once before.

That moment when an otherwise seemingly largely innocuous dream sequence suddenly turns the horror factor up to max.

Was having a largely mundane seeming dream about people passing a specific house. For some dreamlogic reason they were fascinated by the entrance passageway to the front door. I think it was something about it looking fascinating, and the passageway being narrow enough you have to squeeze through to the front door and covered in mirrors. For another possibly dream logic reason the front door is open. Viewpoint character said he smelled fire inside the house. Rushes inside with a bucket of water, looking for fire or the inhabitants of the house.

Find the mother in the bathroom washing her daughters. He hurriedly apologizes for intruding into their home and explains he smells a fire, holding up the bucket of water.

The mother suddenly lunges at him with a knife. He notices the daughters are weirdly still and unmoving...

Then I woke up.

(Main character and brother were born with magic. Farther desperately performed drastic operations on them to remove their magic, because magic people have to go to some sort of magic asylum which for some weird reason has minor hogwarts vibes in the dining room only.

Father fails in completely removing magic, so both brothers go to asylum. Apparently messing up their magic was super painful, so viewpoint character resents father, and chases him away when he for some reason dreamlogic reason shows up at the asylum dinner. Comfort hugs scene between brothers with viewpoint character crying a lot I think? The asylum goes on a roadtrip to somewhere I forget and passes past the door of the burning house starting the scene. There may also have been a flying wheelchair race somewhere in there.)

How do you let someone know that their hygiene is so horrific that it makes you concerned for your own health when they are nearby?

Their smell can actually stun you. It may burn your nose and make your eyes water. They actually physically repulse me.

It may not be their fault, is the problem.

Some disorders, and even some medications can alter body chemistry such that skin flora develops that is overpoweringly ... "fragrant." No matter how much they wash, they cannot fix the underlying problem.

That's kinda the problem with getting bitchy about smells coming from people. You need to look for additional indicators of poor hygiene, such as uncombed hair, dirty clothes, and unbrushed teeth.  Those are indicators of lax personal hygiene.

The smell has only started recently and has been progressively getting worse.

They have no hair, so that's not an indicator. Though I already know for certain that she doesn't practice good hygiene.

Was going to post this yesterday but I was slept.

In English we had to write out a romantic scene, and I was the only person in the room to write it about two people who are presumably going to settle down and love each other. The rest were pretty much all one-night stands/obviously not stable or just so vague I couldn't make out anything.
At the risk of sounding corny, I'm more than a little scared of how devalued love seems to be in my generation. And I don't even LIKE romance.

Not entirely sure what age/grade/whatever you're at, but assuming you're in high school from various things, it grows into most of them by a certain age. Normally in the few years after graduation is the earliest time I've seen it.

The weird thing is that quite a few of them do want stable relationships (and have tried), but they seem to get relationship advice from EastEnders.
Then again, we're all too young to be even thinking about that kind of thing.
