I had fucking terrible nightmares last night. Guess that's lots of us.
The only thing BFEL still considers a nightmare is "bathroom is flooded/unusable and have to go" dreams. Oh god those are terrible. Everything else is just meh.
Ok, addendum to this. The only thing BFEL still considers a nightmare is the above and the one I had last night where I felt totally fine with throwing my dreamsister into an oven to murder her. And also attempting to lure another dreamsister to the same fate.

Thanks dream, now I'm scared of myself.

(also in the sad thread because I forgot there was one for terror)

The wind is blowing so damn hard the snow (in April, yeah) is falling almost perpendicular to the ground o.O

So if you sped up the wind even further the snow would start blowing upwards?
Of course.

Well, fuck...My alarm didn't go off this morning, and I got to school late. This wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't already missed several days recently. But, I have, so now we're facing a truancy suit that we stand essentially no chance of winning. So, our choices are to pay hefty fines, or hire a lawyer, pay hefty fines plus the fees of the lawyer if we lose, or just pay the fees of the lawyer if we win. All of these mean we probably won't be able to keep our house. As it stands, due to pay cuts at my stepdad's workplace and the threat of him getting laid off (He works in the oil industry, and since prices have dramatically dropped...).

All of this means I could very well be living on the streets in a month's time.

Does the school administration know about the cost of the fine? They may be willing to waive them in part or whole given the circumstances. It certainly can't hurt to ask.

Is there any part of American society that isn't designed to make profit by robbing poorer people?

Well, for whatever reason quotes aren't working properly, so:

@timferius
Er...We have a few decent charities and non-profit organizations that do legitimately good work. And I'd imagine at least some industries are more robbing-the-rich-centric.

@Baffler
If they don't already, they will shortly; they are the ones that have to report it, after all. But, from what I've read up on the issue, they're restricted from doing that. However, I suppose I will still ask at the appropriate time.

@greatorder
Extremely screwy.

When dreaming I've heard that parts of your brain are switched off, specifically the parts that are there to self-monitor: those "this is so wrong" parts are asleep at the time. Also the "hold on I don't actually have a sister!" parts are asleep if you get my drift.

Yeah, it's bullshit. I attended a few years in Iowa and was threatened with a sentence in the juvenile prison system if I dropped out. It's no wonder my girlfriend's parents didn't even want her in the system until high school.

Gotta get our childerns properly indoctrinated into our political system so they vote for the proper party when they grow up, and sure as hell can't remove politics from the system. You're gonna vote democrat/republican/whatever-else-is-popular-in-your-district like a good little idiot sheep and you're gonna like it!

Education system right now is controlled by hundreds of lobbyist groups that all want something different, and would more likely kill each other than agree on what information will allow the kid to function.

What terrifies me most is that there's a fuckton of pressure on the federal level to make the decisions for the states and districts, which will basically culminate in one set of lobbyists controlling the entire nation at any given time. It basically makes every school district equally inept.
