There's a bushfire about seven minutes away and the next suburb (Golden Grove) over has been put on high alert for possible evacuation.

I'm assuming you have steps to take in bushfire-related emergencies, and you most likely know far more about such things than I do, but be careful.

We should be safe, the fire has mostly spread north since yesterday, but damn, the smoke is everywhere! Plus the fire went through the Tea Tree Gully Kennels/Cattery. They saved some of the dogs but all the cats died.

So, I woke up with a sore throat and snorted to clear my nose, spitting the resulting phlegm into the sink. It had blood in it. I don't know if I should see my GP as

See your GP as soon as possible after coughing up blood. It's particularly important that you see your GP if there's blood in your sputum and:
you cough up more than a few teaspoons of blood
there's also blood in your urine or blood in your stools
you also have chest pain, dizziness, fever, light-headedness or worsening shortness of breath
you have a loss of appetite or weight loss

I don't have any of those other things.

Edit: I'm wondering if I should even be concerned at all. I mean, it only happened after I *Hrrmed* to clear my throat, maybe that's what caused it...?

Its possible you had a bloody nose in the middle of the night. Happens to me all the time during winter, and I end up coughing up a little bloody phlegm.

I would worry about it if it continues, BUT if you have insurance, get yourself to the doctor right away, you can never be too careful.

Speaking of which, apparently a snake consumed a centipede alive, and it ate it's way through the snake to the outside, obliterating most of its organs. Sadly, the centipede died just as it broke through. SO no one got to live happily ever after. You know you want to see pics

I think I have a phobia of centipedes. I've never quite liked them, but I think it developed when I read this collection of short-stories, and there was one of them titled "The Worm King". Now, being someone who has played TES series I was expecting necromancers, god knows why, but... Well, it seemed to be about a centipede that did... Things to this man and his girlfriend. I don't know what happened, and I don't want to find out. All I remember is that at the end of it, the man is trying to kill the centipede with a cleaver, saying "I'll get you for what you did to *insert girlfriend's name here since I've forgotten it*!". At which point he notices a bulge in his pant legs that begins to move towards his crotch... Thankfully that's the where the story ends, but... *shudders*

I also accidentally read parts of a Gothic Horror Novel when I was younger (like, 7), but thankfully that only had some stuff to do with boars and children being dissected. Possibly alive, I can't remember.

Eh, I wouldn't call fortune cookies racist. It's sort of a cultural stereotype more than a race one. Like saying 'everyone in England drinks tea' compared to 'The English all drink tea'. Very slight difference. Maybe I'm totally wrong? Who knows.
