BTW, I find reading heated discussions on Bay12 terrifying for the same reason I find reading news about police murders in the USA terrifying: they are not so awful per se, but if things are that bad in some of the best parts of the internet/world, then how nightmarishly, boatmurdered-elephant-death-chamber-ly horrifying must the same problems be in the rest of the internet/world?

Didn't quite strike me as a heated discussion, though.
More of a disagreement that really could have been fine if it were moved over to a new thread- the worst I observed of it simply was that it just wasn't in the right place on the forum.

I thought is had all the predispositions of a flame war: a firmly-positioned radical, a bunch of moderates, a very sensitive topic, two experienced arguers who disagree with each other and a growing degree of mutual misunderstanding.

Testosterone does not cause aggression. :I It is present when a person is agitated, or aggressive, primarily in the occurrence of the feeling of anger. It is also present in acts which apply to competition, as seen in a cross-comparison of general labors (ie Business Marketing, Engineering. . .). It has no significant effect on aggression--if any, it is caused by background factors not associated with hormones but more on behavior, as well as knowledge and self-control of the person. There are signs of increased 'hostility' from exposure to testosterone--however the clinical and pathological significance does not exactly point directly towards hostility in the presence of testosterone.

Male and female studies are pretty much more focused on identifying femininity and masculinity, and not to cause a gap between a female and a male. Both have traits of femininity and masculinity--the concept that its a one or the other is an archaic and a flawed (incomplete) one stemming from lacking knowledge of the past times. (1980's/back) [That would relate to the creation of feminism--it was to counter the predominant knowledge of the time, where research was biased against females; feminism in that context was moving for equality...which then came studies related to masculinity/femininity and...yeah.]

In the end, the only predominant differences between men and women are anatomical and physiological. All other differences move into the scope of unique individuality or cultural diversity.

First note is the social construct.

Everyone is uniquely different, however there are social 'norms' (which are...pretty much made by the community rather than the individual) which pushes people towards what is commonly deemed as normal--a social construct rather than an individual make-up.

Like how people are ostracized because of many other convoluted reasons on why they are who they are. I'm jumping on tangent to tangent here but I'm remembering how 'legalities' get in the way of reasoning...quite a lot, missing out on many factors which make such reasoning right or...why it is that way.

My words are messy. I'm basically saying: I'm terrified by lacking understanding--this is directed to nobody in particular (as in, seriously. I thought of nobody exactly when typing this. Stating such so no misunderstandings) but to the attitude which parallels that.

I wouldn't be surprised if it went both ways - increased testosterone <=> anger. Or proneness to it, at least. Though it would obviously have to end somewhere, because runaway feedback loops are bad, yo.

While the common conception is thus...the studies point to nope.
It is present in anger, but there are a lot of factors towards such emotion appearing, and even in those with testosterone--there are those who don't feel anger in common situations where aggression is usually seen (ie in fights or being provoked), due to a ton of other factors. [ie Those self-controlled people and such]
