Had a text from my friend today saying the U.S. was starting dropping bombs on Russia. I was sure it was the end of days, until I saw the news mention Syria. My friend was confused I guess.

It was 6:30 in the morning, I'll believe many things before my coffee.

I just wish there are more survival horrors where you can't even actually see the thing out to get you.
I mean, just how hard would that be to make? You don't even have to make the model except for some body parts that may be glimpsed.
Kinda like this?

The problem with making a completely visible enemy is balance. If you aren't gonna give any visual info on how close the monster is to you, like how Amnesia uses water splashing, then you need to provide information in another way to indicate when the player is in danger or not, or making the monster slow or limited in some way to make up for it being completely invisible. Otherwise making an invisible completely silent monster would be really unfair to the player, possibly even making the game unfun.

Reminds me of the Grue of Zork fame. Though that was more of a mechanism to explain why you couldn't explore dark places.

Not that I play horror games, don't like playing horror games, especially the jump scare ones.

Well, I forgot to pick up an outside reading book for English yesterday.

It's late now, but I'll lose like 15% of my grade if I don't get a book, so I had to get one anyway.

I had been planning on digging up Crown of Swords, the Wheel of Time book my father hasn't recovered yet and using that, but the assignment came earlier than I had expected, and I did not want to waste forty-five minutes of my life finding a fantasy novel that nobody has ever borrowed from the library yet (read: fantasy novel that is good, unless the novel is from one of the greats. I was the first guy to get out most of the Hitchhiker's books along with a very funny novel that parodies regular fantasy whose name I cannot remember.) I was lazy and English is next period, though, so I looked up the one Tolkien book the library has that I haven't read yet. (They only had the split-in-two version of Eye of the World, I finished the original LotR series in eighth grade, and there weren't any novels I could find that I'd heard good things about beforehand; the only other book in there I'm prepared to use is one I'm saving for my second one this year.)

The Silmarillion.

This thing reads like the Bible. Not the fairy tale-bible-history book cross of LotR, just the Bible.

Dear Ilúvatar, am I screwed.

At least I know that I wield guldur-- dark sorcery.

The Silmarillion is the best work of fantasy ever, and I will defend it with the righteous fire of the long-dead Trees of Valinor.

This may be hyperbole.

Oh lord that thing. Sure, it may burn me with holy fire every time I read it, but it's the ... the staleness of the text that really gets me.

I just started reading it this morning. No really.

Maybe it's because I'm not sophisticated enough but five pages in and it's pretty boring.

Tolkien's writing is kind of boring, which is why adults like it because fun is not allowed. :P

Just don't bother remembering any names before the actual title of the book is mentioned. The first half is nothing but Elf migrations.
