I almost died today, that was terrifying. I was in a serious car accident today, and luckily walked out of it with comparatively minor injuries. A woman ran through a stop sign and hit me in my passenger's side. We were both going about 80km/h, and both our cars were totaled. I spent most of the day in a hospital, it was quite possibly the scariest moment of my life. I'm still in a very large amount of pain, but nothing's broken and nothing's permanent, although I may walk with a limp for a few weeks.

At least you're not dead!

I may be a terrible person for sharing this, but I can't help myself.  It's too perfect.  And this is the terrified thread, so it should be expected.

TBH Glloyd, you probably don't want to follow that link, until you're less shaken by the incident.  It's just one of the most memorable creepypasta I've read, and it has to do with ghosts/car crashes.  Glad you're ok, and hope insurance comes through for you expeditiously.

I may be a terrible person for sharing this, but I can't help myself.

I didn't really find this scary at all. More grotesque in the descriptions and bothersome that the monster didn't respect the person's privacy.

I think the problem for me was the fact that the monster was the viewpoint character, which limited the potential to invoke fear of the unknown, combined with the fact that the monster seemed very deliberate in its actions. The whole thing seemed very fatalist; the monster was either going to kill the person or not, but the final outcome seems predetermined so there's no point bothering about it.

This story would have worked better if it had been depicted from the victim's point of view, facing a strange monster with unknowable goals which has haunted them all their life, or it could have worked from the monster's point of view if it showed some sort of internal struggle about what it was doing. As it is it just feels like a very unpleasant clingy person.

2/10 would be more bothered by the intrusion than any feeling of horror

Yeah, creepypastas work best when you find an author who is shit-hot at freaking you out, and you only read them at night when you're slipping into that peculiar sort of madness that only appears when you've stayed up too long or wake up in the middle of the night.

The majority of creepypastas seem to be pretty crappy, in my experience. Who Was Phone, and all that. The phrase "hyper-realistic blood" could be used a lot less.

I've read some pretty good ones too, though, so they're not all bad.
