Or whatever comes next will be designed to incorporate us/into us, instead of replacing us.  I think if anything, we will simply take charge of our own evolution, if not begin directly modifying ourselves.  I think Eclipse Phase has the right idea.  Not that transhumanism doesn't have its own existential horrors attached.

Bought a hardcover of the main book at Gencon two years ago.  I love it.

I have it bookmarked, does that count?

Anyway, my main goal in my life is to make a method of immortality that is cheap, doesn't cut off any future modifications that we come up with (i.e. taking this one early doesn't preclude something really awesome in the future) and doesn't kill us (literally or philosophically) in the process, like a scan-and-destroy brain upload or something.

After that, I'll be happy to sit back and be a slow waiter (albeit one in the engineering/sciences biomedical), but it's kind of a big-deal, what with the ticking time-bomb in each of our chests, that we are *able* to wait for the future, come what may.

It's kind of step-one to see the future: Be Alive To See It, whenever it comes.

Which is absurd, of course. We manage to cure death-by-aging, but can't deal with... er... aging. ... Yeah.

Besides, you'd think that a society that conquered aging would have been able to perfect artificial organs. Heck, we're making pretty good strides right now.

Well, no, the idea in those books is that you manage to deal with one cause of aging, but there are many, many causes...

Anyway, you won't live forever unless you find a way to circumvent entropy, which is about as likely as circumventing conservation of energy. You could extend your life pretty significantly, though, and I think that's worthwhile.

Just spent 2-3 hours browsing the SCP website. Why did I think that was a good idea? I'm already pretty bad at dealing with horror writing and some of the stuff on that website is FUCKED UP in ways that scare the shit out of me. Most of it is fine. But there's always that ONE THING that creeps the living fuck out of you. I mean, teddy bears that murder people is fucked up. Teddy bears made of out SEVERED HUMAN EARS that murder people is FUCKED UP. And there's weirder shit on that website too. Stuff that makes ME question my faith in humanity. Who the fuck comes up with something like The Mother? No one *****I***** want on the same terrestrial body as me. Oh well, wasn't planning on getting much sleep anyways. So now I'm practicing not blinking instead. Just in case.

The description of the SCPs itself don't tend to make me lose sleep, it's the pictures.
There's that one SCP which is a coffin that mess up surveillance equipment that pretty much make me scared of looking at security monitors.

Move aside scrub, I started binging (again) a few days ago and still haven't finished.

I heard that the image on 895's page is similarly affected, but haven't noticed anything of the sort yet. Maybe you could try and have a look?
