They're not actually beetles at all, but rather "true bugs" (Hemiptera). Also considered a delicacy in some places.

We call those things "grass grub beetles", based on the fact that everyone cares about the grubs (which eat grass roots - not a good thing) and the beetles are a comparatively minor nuisance.

About 99% of bugs I am a completely rationale adult. I've held a praying mantis, will generally chill with spiders. But there's just something about Junebugs. I can only describe it as a mix of utter revulsion and terror. And they like to lurk in my mailbox......

I dislike most insects, but I approve of spiders (and I know they technically aren't insects and blah blah) because they usually keep to themselves and eat other insects.

So... I woke up this morning completely refreshed.. After only four hours of sleep.. And a series of all allnighters during the last three days.

This on its own I didn't think was weird, although in retrospect, it was pretty strange.

I realized like three minutes ago that my nails are about half an inch longer then they were before I went to sleep... This unsettles me, four hours and half an inch of nail growth. Possibly hair also but my hair is long enough that I can't tell. This is just rather strange.

Is there a chance you got caught inside some sort of temporal loop? where time passed normally inside it, but slowly outside?

I don't think there was a temporal loop, I had a watch on.

If you actually pulled 3 all-nighters in the past 3 days, I wouldn't trust your perceptions of anything (including nail length) during that entire time.

Sleep deprivition does crazy things to the brain, and minor hallucinations are par for the course.

I've never done drugs, but I have gotten into a sleep deprived state where I was extremely paranoid and absolutely every shape in the corner of my vision looked like a quasi-human figure either standing there or making subtle movements.

Things that made me terrified: I had to drive like that. Alone, at night. I kept thinking there were shapes of people or animals moving onto the road in front of me, but on a double-take there'd be nothing there.

At least I was on empty backroads, so I was able to go ridiculously slowly and cautiously.
