Yes. You can do a transition with college but its not the norm, usually only if you're missing credits.

College is usually done for it's own sake, usually a two or three year program instead of 4 for university. Most people do one or the other.

Any chance of swinging in during the Winter semester? I dunno if that's a thing that would work in Canadaland, but perhaps it's worth a shot.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

No. If I don't stop procrastinating as much as I have, it'll be another year. Guelph doesnt allow second semester first years.

This is the norm in New Zealand, too. University fees are sodding ridiculous, though, so fewer and fewer people actually go that far.

They're pretty bad here, too. 10K for the year, give or take a couple K.

It's not really bad if it's like that everywhere.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,
Little b̸̵̀o͘͢͡x̶́̕e̕s͟͟ on the hillside,
L̢҉it́t̵̶͞l͟͝e̷͘͝ ̨b͜҉͡ǫx̡e͜͏҉s͘҉̴ ́͡al̛l͘͜ ̢̢t́hȩ s̕͟a̶̸̛mè͢.͘

That's actually pretty cute. It's like a little toybox dystopia.
And it's supposed to be about the real world!

We're all boxes! You're a box, I'm a box! We stare at each other with our square, emotionless eyes in horror!

I kid, of course. The song seems a little on the pessimistic side of things.
After a bit of research, apparently the song was originally written back in the early sixties as commentary on/a satire of suburban living and middle class conformism. So yanno. But still. I honestly found it more horrifying than any lovecraft story.

That makes sense, if it was written in the sixties.

What's more terrifying is that when I first heard the song, I didn't know it was written way back then. I thought it was talking about modern life. And it still sounds relevant today.

There was that TV show Weeds that used the original as it's title song.
