My EKG came back, and it turns out there may be something off. I am going in for more tests later, but one side of my heart is slightly enlarged. This is... troubling.

Reminds me of one of the stories from a haunted house one of my dad's relatives owned.  My mom once walked into the living room there, and a little kid version of my dad was sitting on the couch (this was when my dad was a young adult).  He slowly turned to look at her and smiled, and then she ran and locked herself in the bathroom.

Very true. Honestly, that example actually looks nice compared to some of the ugly shit I've seen built around the place.
Remember the 2008 Olympic stadium? That's a high-profile example of the sort of disgusting shit we're pulling down old buildings to create these days.
The main Library in my city has a bunch of multi-coloured blocks protruding from its walls at seemingly-random intervals, and is just generally terrible in appearance. It's across the road from the beautiful old casino, too, just to show how far we've fallen.

The UFO in my mom's hospital is an example of good po-mo though.

I went to a hospital and it had a fancy curved waiting room and wooden panelled pillars and all sorts of fancy stuff. And all I could think of was "That money would do better buying medicines and paying doctors, rather than having some fancy panelling." I realise mood effects recovery, but i doubt many patients are seeing the waiting rooms.

So yeah. Rough but functional is always better in my book than fancy and not.

No, I'm fine with a focus on architecture and aesthetics. It's just that so many modern architects are absolute fuckwits with no idea of what looks good, and go for stupid abstract shapes and wavy concrete walls rather than classy looking buildings.
Whenever I see some ugly piece of shit get thrown up in the place of an old building that's been knocked down, I just want to stab whoever's responsible in the face. Wait, no, in the gut- let them die slowly as I urinate on them.
