lemon10: Nobody sane is claiming that the bible is infallible. Part of the awesome of Roman Catholicism is that the bible has been pretty much downgraded to 'important book that's pretty reliable for moral and theological questions when interpreted correctly'.

The last two words is why we need an entire state for theology.

I've spent probably way more of my time this semester than I ought to have arguing theology with Baptists. I'm not quite sure how they claim to subscribe to sola sciptura with a straight face.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Speaking of, if you happen to find a web-building spider of comparable size to the flies in your house, don't kill it. It will eat the flies and mostly stay in its web.

Also, I just rediscovered the gem that is let me hear your war cry.

Just give them a ten-minute straight-faced lecture on why they need to be burned at the stake, complete with references to the counter-reformation, Jesuit doctrine and the historical persecution of heretics, the next time they start talking about religion. Casually mention the hierarchical structure of the Church and the fact that most Mexican immigrants are die-hard Catholics. Then tell them to say hello to their family from you.

Where I come from, they put all of those on a shelf labeled "Paranormal Romance" and no-one has to look at them if they don't want to. This means that I see the normal throughput of fantasy, there's just a whole new genre with (thankfully) a whole new set of writers off to one side.
My library puts them at one end of "Fantasy" shelf, right next to Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance novels, while I browse the other end where they keep stuff like A Song of Ice and Fire. I have witnessed some awkward meetings there.

I don't understand why people claim librarians don't have sense of humor...

You can walk down any aisle and notice when you're in the romance section because all the book spines are pastel and any cover you see features a shirtless guy on the deck of a ship. Paranormal romance as a published genre needs to get with it and pastel that shit up. Right now it's mainly a pale, sad hermaphrodite or a backlit object on a black background.

I don't think teens will want their book covers to look like their mothers porn romance books... need to be more edgy.

Not killing web-building spiders is generally good advice. I saw one tying down a wasp once. It was a long struggle but the spider had the better tools.
