Yes, but it's always for a research reason. Even if it is just "Throwing science at the wall and seeing what sticks", it's still for something. Putting corpses in boxes is not new or revolutionary at all. It's something people have done for at least millennia, maybe more.
Likewise, GLaDOS' attitude is to be the most effective at making testing happen. It's all oriented towards doing the most Aperture Science possible.

Putting corpses is not the horrifying theory. Putting live people in boxes is. And humans have done these things. For science; for enhanced interrogation. Both of which Aperture would be privy to, science for science and must we forget their funding came from the reverse Heimlich maneuver?
Putting live people in boxes is something Glados would do. And from a video designer perspective, that is the sort of thing Valve would do too. Hearing the screams of headcrab zombies is just not the same anymore once you know what they're saying.

I like the sentient cube theory. The reason they're useless is because they were failures of the GLaDOS-type mind transfer. All various failures. Some never spoke but were trapped inside forever, others could and couldn't stop screaming due to the way the errors in transfer always kept the pain sensors active and wiped their memory every few minutes.

Ugh. I could go on. Because, as is stated, there's a warehouse full of the things.

And they're spawned by a giant nutsack with legs, which somehow removes some of the horror factor and adds ridiculous.

Well, at it turns out, Disney decided a part of my town was a perfect setting to start shooting a movie in (In case you're wondering, it's Tomorrowland (Geroge Clooney, Hugh Laurie, and Tim McGraw, if I recall correctly are in town for the shoot this week), and a chunk of my town looks old enough for an old-time setting), and expectedly, a good few roads has been locked down for filming. What worries me is how bad traffic is gonna be during and after the shoot (crappy enough without it to begin with).

At least we're still a shark capital and have pretty freaking big bugs (or spiders at least) to keep tourism under control.

What I find strange is that I feel somewhat like I'm in one of those TV series with guest appearances by celebrities. Now that really worries me.
