Yeah, the goal of games like Cookie Clicker or Candy Box or Dark Room is that you can let it run in another tab and sink time in it while doing other things. Multitasking, yo.

With Cookie Clicker I've had friends report their producing ~trillion cookies a second or some insane number like that, and still needing a gajillion more universes worth of cookies for stuff. I'm exaggerating to emphasize the point, it's a timesink, but in the sense of just "letting it run and reaping the rewards" rather than a timesink such as MMOs and grinding.

Pretty sure both MMOs and Cookie Clicker work on a similar reward concept in that the more time you put in, the bigger the numbers get. Bigger numbers are fun...somehow.

I'm kind of worried about where my throat-lining has gone. I have had a bad cold recently and have been expelling copious amounts of mucus from my nose and mouth, but it doesn't stop coming.

I've had the same thing! I'm almost over it though.

I hope you feel better soon. Colds are annoying no matter what form they take.

Guess who got caught in the snow for the first time ever today?

That's right, I did. Stuck in stationary traffic at the summit of a mountain as snow begins to fill the air in all directions, and me with no chains, fuel anti-freeze, or a truck that can idle indefinitely, and time slowly ticking down. I was genuinely afraid that I'd end up stuck there for any number of reasons.

Thankfully that didn't happen, and I got down the mountain. Only skidded a little once!

Bothered to look at xantalos' avatar. Twas hideous, yet uninterestingly so.

Also, my brother's girlfriend, the idiot, adopted a puppy. Turns out the owners lied about its breed, and the puppy is actually 3/4 wolf or some bullshit. I can only hope he'll behave well enough as an adult.

If this is the case, just ensure dominance is established. This will be key. Once done, there will need to be clear and consistent punishments for misbehavior. It wouldn't hurt to work to train the dog to do a few tricks, too, just to get a sense of communication going. Behavior in wolfdogs is mostly just unpredictable across breeds, but an individual dog is usually consistent. In broad strokes, though, you're likelier to have a less-aggressive, but very curious animal. If she's prepared to raise a big dog, she'll probably be fine.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
