I was lying down in bed after having gotten off the phone with my mother and I thought to myself that she's getting on there in years. She's my representative payee and I'm afraid that if I don't get someone else to be my own payee or become my own payee myself before she passes that I'll be in a world of hurt because of it. That then lead to me thinking about how I've got a Section 8 inspection in April or May of next year at the earliest. If I don't pass that inspection I lose my support and my apartment and may very well end up being homeless because I am unable to work and most places in California cost about what I get in benefits a month in rent a month. Oh god, I may be screwed if what I'm paranoid about ends up becoming a reality. I'm frightened, very much so, at the uncertain future I am facing at this time.

Okay, trust me on this. DO THIS. NOW. I can't tell you how absolutely serious I am. DO IT. NOW. STOP READING THIS.

... relatively certain that a single incident like that isn't going to increase your chances of skin cancer by much, if at all. If that's all it took, pretty much the entire state I'm in would be cancer ridden.

Maybe if it happened, like, daily for years, you'd have a pretty notable increase in cancer risk, but less than that shouldn't be much of an issue.

E: Which isn't to say you won't get skin cancer. Just that the odds haven't gone up terribly much.

Fortunately, I know how you can ensure that you will never catch skin cancer. For this exercise, you are going to need a very sharp flaying knife and saran wrap...

alternatively, he could always do a handstand.

I'd do both if I were him, though. Just to be extra-sure.

That'd probably increase the probability of getting cancer, actually. All that cellular division in scar formation gives DNA a lot of places to get fucked up.

http://anasomnia.com/

A friend sent me to this. Short kind of game where you get an insomniac girl to fall asleep. It uses your webcam to sense if your room is dark, and when you turn the lights out...things get interesting. I won't spoil anything though, go check it out.

I'm just sitting there minding my own business on my computer and then i look to my left. There is a big ass spider just sitting there on my wall, and me having arachnophobia and being terrified didn't take my chance to kill that asshole. So now there's a spider somewhere in my room right next to my bed. WELL I DIDN'T WANT TO SLEEP ANYWAY THANKS SPIDER.

It just wants to be your friend and protect you from those disease carrying insects. I bet you two will get along great in the end, just like in every odd couple style movie.

This.

You're more at risk by going outside every day for a short walk than you are by going out once and getting sunburned.

No, not really. If he'd go outside every day, melanocytes would have time to build up and get you a protective layer of melanin, otherwise known as having a suntan. Melanin accumulates near the nucleus, absorbing UV radiation and protecting DNA against absorbing UVb, which causes reactions which cause bad things to happen because DNA damage.

Sunburn is a situation in which the DNA is damaged enough for enzymes to notice and go 'HOLY FUCK ABANDON SHIP WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST' and detonate the cell in a controlled environment, but if your enzymes are fucked up due to accumulated DNA damage that didn't pass the threshold, they don't notice DNA dun goofed and the checks against DIVIDEDIVIDEDIVIDE may not start up, cue cancer.
