Perhaps to me you all've got no heads and I'm the only one who thinks free.
If you think not without sensory perception, what are you but a pair of eyes? Welcome to the matrix Sleo.
And if you follow the noble-killing, elf-hating, child-abusing crowd, what are you but another ant of the nest, chained by the hivemind? We ain't in the Matrix, far from it. We've entered the backyard of the gold-chained slaves.

The plot twist is that we never left the matrix, we trade chains of gold with chains of code - sensory perception is an illusion in of itself.

Though no, I do not follow a crowd. But it is rather intriguing questioning how much of us is certain. For example, people are adept at noticing evolutionary flaws and mocking them, is that a part of our genetics?

I do not believe so, rather, it is more likely a product of circumstance and social interaction, our gathering, our upbringing. But then, does circumstance, chance, exist? If a luck-based event happened in the past, then was the result genuinely unpredictable or predetermined? How many timelines are there, one or infinite?

Stupid trachea being connected to the esophagus. I don't need to breathe through my mouth if I'm going to die because of it.

I'm not so sure about that. A lot of who we are is to do with our environment, but a lot of it is in our genetics and we have no control over it - our personality included. We are great at seeing patterns, ignoring patterns and finding exceptions to patterns.
The question I posed was brought up on a thread, where someone had posted this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
One Anon remarked it looked rather stupid, then another remarked that he realized it was entirely possible that humans have it in their genetics to notice and mock genetic dead ends.
My mind was as they say, blown with the force of a thousand sharks.
Chance exists as chaos and the decision of chaos, chaos is unpredictable - so we can conclude nothing is certain. But if time is taken to be a dimension, then that also means the future and past always continue in a state of existence.
This uncertainty of existence is why we still need philosophy.

And back to free-thinkin' we go. 'Course, my judgement might be altered. I am running on caffeine right now, not having been able to sleep.

But, back to the subject. We've established that philosophy is necessary, yet why is it so if it doesn't explain entropy enough to make us comfortable? If it doesn't tell us all we wish to know about death? Surely it raises countless further questions it can't answer?

Why are explanations in the present a requirement, are not questions without answers the reason we search for them? Philosophy is thinking, ways of thinking, thinking is the only way we have of interpreting the universe.

I can agree with that definition of philosophy. However, it seems there's this trend of interpreting the universe not by thought, but unquestioningly by what you're told. That would prove your final thought in that claim invalid. It cuts thinking out.

Precisely. It's the differences between knowledge, facts and axioms that define the way we think.

Terror thread is now philosophy thread.
