Currently reading this Commercial Driver's License manual. A lot of it is standard driving stuff (eg. pull to the side of the road if a tire pops). Then every once in a while, you get stuff about how the slightest miscalculation can cause the deaths of you and everyone else in a three mile radius*. Pretty scary stuff, all things considered.

I think your main issue with them and drinking seems to be more of a [noun that eludes me] thing. Their [noun] is one where you drink excessively to lose your inhibitions and "get crazy". Yours is one where you drink moderately to relax a little. You are not a good fit for their group and their group is not a good fit for you.

A nearly identical thing happened to me earlier this year. The worst they did was strip me off, clean me up, and put me to bed.

So we had our first test today! It was a simple pass/fail agility test. Oh, and if you fail any part of the test you get kicked out of school.

This is technically the second day, and it isn't even close to over. What next?

Agility as in physical ability?
What kind of school is this that they would kick you out over a single test anyway?

Yes, as in physical agility. It's a truck driving school; you have to be able to do stuff like get under the trailer, open the hood, get into and out of the cab safely, stuff like that. If you can't do that stuff, there's no point teaching you how to drive the things.

Oh, I was imagining something like a gymnastics obstacle course. With jumping and things.

Being 500 pounds?

... aren't most truck drivers that?

Poor hand-eye coordination, a bad back, low upper body strength can all make you fail those tests. In fact, the only ones who were in danger of failing were the lightest students, because they had a hard time opening the hood of the tractor without assistance.

Well, in that case, I can say I passed that test when I was ten. I frequently accompanied my grandfather on his trucking journeys - it was always great fun to climb up and open the cab door.
I was also capable of climbing up INTO the trailer to clean it out.

You probably would have failed the hood test at ten. The things weigh a few hundred pounds at least and you have to be able to control them. They aren't like car hoods - the kind you lift up - either. You have to brace yourself against the front bumper and pull the thing towards you. The smaller people in the class couldn't do it without moving to a different truck with hood that weighed 150 pounds less.

As a side note, I almost had to be hospitalized when that guy was like "Dude speak english" When you were the only one speaking proper English.
