Well, when somebody brings up toxoplasma gondii, a monocellular eukaryota similar to a fungi that is known to infect and alter human behavior, I'm going to sleep well that night. As soon as growths are involved, I'm out.

Yeah, fungi on an otherwise normal body, even on a spider... It just looks wrong, even though I saw only a flash of that image. Just... an innate horror to it.

Or that rumored malaria strain in Cambodia [probs hoax, but it involved military quarantine.. the gist of it is that the parasite stops the heart long enough to retard people to a state of basal-feral behavior, you can more or less guess why it was contained so easily]

I remember that there was this parasite that took over ant's minds, and saw it happening on a documentry. It was shit-terrifying seeing this ant laying on a blade of grass with this single wooden-looking branch stretching out of it's head up into the sky. Just freaky as all hell.

Yes those inflated eye stalks are bloated from masses of tiny worms that pulsate.

Anyways, moral of the story: things that can kill you within a reasonable degree are scary.

Most behavior altering parasites simply release dopamine when exposed to stimuli they like, thus conditioning the host to react in a desirable way. Pretty easy really, you could do the same with a syringe. Not that scary.

But the growths... ARR!!!!!
