I'm literally surrounded by Romney supporters. Hold me.

Me too, FD. Everyone's like, "How did Obama get reelected?"
And I'm like, "... Because you assholes were sitting around getting drunk and bitching about Obama instead of voting?"

Yeah, same deal here.

"I can't believe Obama won argle blargle!"

"He didn't win the popular vote, though! He can't do shit!"

Me: "Actually, yeah, he did. By the by, do you even remember Dubya?"

"..."

"Well he barely won the popular vote so he doesn't have a mandate to do anything and will have to compromise a bunch!"

"I didn't vote, but if I did, I would have voted for Romney!" x14

Me: "Why?"

"Because..."

"He's not a socialist!"

That's pretty much the gist of it.

Actually it's often the other way around. Private insurance needs to make money, the governement doesn't (Provided they're playing fair that is). Also, being larger, it effectively has a minor monopoly, allowing it to negotiate lower prices.

True, it will raise the prices for those who can afford it anyway, but it's a great help for those who can't.

We had this discussion already, which resulted in a comparison with many countries, which resulted in the following conclusion.

Socialized Healthcare is cheaper
                                is more qualitative
                               increases equality

Dice, what sort of podunk college do you go to that doesn't seem to have any Democratic supporters?  There's usually Dem voters in college towns in even heavily Republican states (see: Austin, TX).

The one Paul Ryan went to (according to NY Times article) Heavily conservative. Still, I will admit it bucks the trend. Even in Neo-fascist states it's the students.

It's actually quite a good university, it just happens to be positioned in rural Kentucky and attracts a lot of local students with scholarship money. Most of the professors and maybe ~20% of the students are left-leaning, and something like 15% are non-Christian. It's just that they aren't the ones constantly argle-blargling about politics or standing up on benches for impromptu sermons.

Hey, hey guys? Can we go back to terrified as opposed to "Fox/Republicans are wrong?" I get that we're a tight community and group polarity is strong, but I'm rather sick of being lumped into a pile of inferiority because of my political stance.
Don't worry. We still wuv you. Judging you like that would be an association fallacy.

Don't hate on me because I'm gay, and don't say I'm lazy if I'm poor, and we're golden :D

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

So, uh, got home from watching a movie(involving serial killers, serial killer-killers and serial killer-killer-killers, incidentally) fairly late. I live in a share house.
I find my door... Open. Now, I was in quite a hurry as I left, since I was late for said movie and I missed the bus, etc. But my door... Open? That's the sort of thing I'm pedantic about. And then I stepped in and glanced around and saw stuff strewn across the floor, clothes and papers chucked seemingly at random about the place. I'm pretty sure my heartbeat sped up a bit there.

And then I realised my room is so messy I would never even know if someone did toss the place. :o

So then I was like, "Meh."

Well, take comfort in the fact that it would work on people actually breaking into your house too.

"Shit, someone already robbed this place."

Sounds like that commercial for Twix where the guy and his date from the previous commercial come to his apartment to find the place wrecked. Knowing that it's his mess, and that his date doesn't know it, he quickly eats a Twix bar(which apparently can stop cast Time Stop), then claims he was robbed. His clueless date then has pity-sex with him.

My wizard always carries around a whole box of Twix because it casts faster than Time Stop and has a longer duration if you eat them slow enough.
