Yeah that's something I hate about fire and legends. Always "FIRE IS AN ELEMENT" and "I CAN MOVE IT" and all that. A master of combustion would be a truly terrifying thing, and they turn it into a gimmick. Shame.
I mean seriously, the screw with oxygen and burninate things. Not to mention the implied breaking of thermodynamics. What's not terrifying about that?
