This is how I feel about the antagonists in "realistic" horror movies, but not supernatural ones.
You can't fight a ghost/curse/memetic hazard, because they aren't really physical entities; yes, the physical form of Sadako crawls out of the tv and eats your soul or whatever, but you can't fight that physical form because it doesn't really matter, it's just the form that the supernatural entity uses to interact with the physical world.
