My stepdad makes it a point to always go for a clean kill, if that makes you feel any better. And the only time he failed to make a clean kill, the deer kicked him in the nuts when he went to get it.

Besides, around here the deer population is simply too big.  Once a population gets too large for its habitat, disease will wipe out most of the herd, or they'll start bursting into subdivisions and onto roads.  Deer are pests, and the wolves don't do a good enough job keeping the population at a manageable level, so hunters are the only other predator (aside from the SUV) that can take out a good number of them.

Opposite problem here. The deer are dying out due to lack of habitat. They'll be completely gone from my immediate area in a few years.

This is what, the second time we derailed this thread into something about eating meats? First Pokemon, now it's deer.
