Went camping one time on a very remote lake in Michigan.  We only saw one other human being the entire time we were there (a park ranger) and the animals there weren't shy of people at all.  Squirrels would come up and take food from your hand... At one point, I lay down on a comfortable rock to catnap and a chipmunk decided to run up and sit on my face.

I've seen the overexposed type in city parks and such.  They'll be people shy, but brave enough to run up and snatch something and then scurry off.  The behavior here was different.  They were cautious and observed from a distance at first, and then just... got over it, and were hardly afraid at all.  They wouldn't just hang out with us or anything, but they weren't minimizing the time they spent in proximity to us, like I would expect from even an overexposed wild animal. 

Like the chipmunk that sat on my face... I started laughing and it only ran a couple feet away and then stared at me curiously.

The swans here in the town I live in are a bit overexposed. They beg food off of people at the cafe tables and I've seen one standing in the middle of a pedestrian crossing staring down a bus.

Good point.  And back on topic, I found that original character somewhat terrifying.
