I'm getting interest from Duke and Yale, but I'm not holding out for either of them given my financial situation.
I've received mail from most of the Ivy League, but unless I can get one of the free rides for low income kids, there's no way I can afford that much tuition. Luckily I live in a rural community near the west coast, my family only makes ~$50,000 per year, and I'm a first-generation college students. I've got my chances, may as well take them. Other than that, UW is looking like a really good option just because of the fact that paying only $8,000 tuition per year would be much less difficult than $40,000/year.

But yeah, I'm growing up a nice, straightlaced lad, and I am actually terrified of this party scene that people associate with college. I'm going to become an architect, not watch the people I'm forced to live with get drunk and make poor decisions.
That's one of the many reasons I'm not going to WSU, though it's the only college so far that's accepted me. There is nothing to do in Pullman except for partying, and I am no party man. Seattle is an interesting place, at least.

So I've been having these dreams for the last few weeks. Since about the 7th, IIRC.

The setting's always the same. My old house on a sloped street. The street flattens out about two houses down to the right (from my front door), and across the road at that point is this huge shopping mall. For some reason, the colour scheme of the outside is mainly red to yellow. Inside, most of it sort of blurs together, but the part that stands out the most to me is the bookstore. Specifically, the horror section. They always have the same stuff on stock, and I don't recognise any of the titles, but every so often I find one with my name on it as the author. If I see one of these, I immediately turn and leave, feeling what I can only describe as pure terror.

There's also a gift shop. Ice-cave themed. My old town was a tourist stop, more or less - the major attraction was the local glacier. I can never focus on the shelves, and every time I pass it I always look into the 'tunnel' painted on the back wall, and I see something big moving. And I always run.

To the left of the shopping mall - directly across from my house - is a factory. I don't know what's in it, what it's for, anything like that. Nobody enters. Nobody leaves. And it just keeps pumping smoke out of three chimneys. The fourth - the leftmost one - never does anything.

To the right of the mall is a graveyard. Every time I try to head towards it, it's like every particle in my body screams NO and I stop and go home.

Whenever I go home, the dream ends.

I'm probably going back tonight. I'll try and bring back some more information about one of 'my' books if I can.

This is pretty interesting.  Looking forward to hearing what you discover.  I've never heard of a nightmare like this before, where you're in control of initiating any confrontation.  It sounds like a landscape where the only features are scary things, and you can avoid them but then you don't finish the dream and will keep coming back?

So you're scared of writing scary books?

I wish to point out that it's pretty rare to be able to read text in a dream (Most people report only seeing garbage text or meaningless rune-like characters in place of normal writing). In fact, the way your dream is structured is very abnormal as well. I'd suggest trying to gain ludicity when the dream comes around again.

Well it's not that it terrifes me as much as it really just makes me go meh at the whole idea. It's again about my future and my parents opinion that the next few months and how i do on the graduation will decide my whole life. Now with my original choice gone down the drain i chose other universities, not because i like them or anything, just to shut up my parents, i also applied (well sort of) for another design academy (or something, not sure how to translate it correctly) but getting in seems rather hard as they require a rahter ridicilous amount of stuff (some artwork, photography and most funny of all several brochure/cover designs). So right now i am completley unmotivated to study or do anything related to my school since i really don't see any point or need for it and i really have no idea what to do with myself afterwards.

Reading is difficult, but implicit knowledge isn't.  You can look at a page, and know what it says without reading it.

Still sounds /awesome/ to try and gain lucidity in.

Cthulu Fhtagn! Yes, it's the that time of the year again, when Ry'leh rises from the sea and the Great Priest rises from his home to summon the Outer god Yog Sogoth into our world in hopes of reclaiming the world for the Outer gods! Welcome our new masters! The time of Blotch is at hand! And I would like to learn how to dream lucidly as well. Any sites or info?

Okay, so last night I dreamed the town again. I didn't end up going to the mall this time, though I could still see the factory's smokestacks in the distance. Instead, I woke up in a different part of town, hereafter referred to as 'downtown'. I haven't been here before, which kind of surprises me.

There was a video rental shop next to a car dealership on one block - in the real world, my dad works at a car dealership on the same block as a video rental shop, so I guess it was a subconscious thing. One of my friends, Angus, was standing at the corner of the caryard closest to the video place, and when I talked to him, he didn't say anything, like he didn't know I was there.

Across the street was a big building with tinted glass windows and no doors. I couldn't see anything inside, and the glass wouldn't break, though I'm not exactly the strongest person around.

A couple blocks down was the filthiest KFC I've ever seen. I'd really rather not go back there. Or talk about it.

I remember going back down past the caryard, and Angus was still there, but he was looking at me. He wouldn't say anything, he'd just stare at me with dead-looking eyes, no matter what I did. And then I left 'downtown', and I woke up.

It doesn't seem like full lucidity yet, I remember wanting to go to the video place, but I just kept walking no matter how much I tried to turn and open the doors. Regardless, this is starting to get both really cool and really creepy.

Had a nap today because I've had trouble sleeping at night all week. Had a nightmare of driving down the street with my dad and hitting somebody.

I've been in two car accidents, got hit by one and had a beloved pet die to one. I think I'm developing anxiety to cars/driving.

We seem to be talking about dreams a lot lately.

Anyway, last night, I believe, I had a dream I was circumcised. That's the only thing memorable about it. I was just living everyday life, except I was circumcised. I just knew I was.

I have lucid recurring dreams. I'm in a ghost town, like Tea Tree Gully in Adelaide, and theres a creature after me. If any of you saw my writing post, its that. A creature of shadow. I usually have time to try and fortify a place, get weapons but it always kills me. But about a week ago I was the creature and I was hunting myself. And I tore my head off with one clawed hand. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???
