I recommend it come from Dogar and Kazon.

Dogar and Kazon are the twin gods of death and destruction worshipped by the Ilwrath race. They represent everything that is evil in the universe.

Though the Ilwrath once communicated with the two entities through an elite class of priests, they later rebelled against these priests, whom they felt had grown corrupt and insufficiently dedicated to the cause of evil, on the orders of new entities claiming to be Dogar and Kazon and communicating over audio on a well-known Hyperwave channel — Channel 44.

Dogar and Kazon are portrayed physically as huge, voracious beings with mandibles that consume the victims of Ilwrath ritual sacrifice. Dogar The Black is known for having forty-four eyes that see into the forty-four planes of existence. Common reference is also made to Dogar's distinct, all-seeing green eye which peers into our plane, often identified with the sun of the Ilwrath home planet (known to Humans as Alpha Tauri). Kazon The Unseen, on the other hand, appears to be some sort of gigantic representation of an amorphous organism with halitosis, described as having forty-four sub-tongues, each with forty-four huge, writhing cilia that allow it to draw in and swallow its prey. Additionally, certain titles the Ilwrath use for the gods seem to imply that Dogar is a straightforward destroyer, and Kazon a deceitful, furtive murderer.

I wouldn't say "absolute terrified", but definitely paranoid. It's the dead of night and someone just drove by right as something loudly hit the outside of my window (when there's nothing natural able to do that). Man, if those douchebags found out where I live...

I bought the first two STALKER games last Christmas & I'm finally getting around to playing them.
Every place is just so unnerving, especially when you're not very well armed...
Ooh, also watching Marble Hornets & shit be getting eerie.

Stalker is a great experience in terror at first, especially the underground labs.  My very first run through the first underground lab is one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had.
