I was curious too. Apparently, a lot of African cultures have several death rights that involve contact with the deceased (washing the body etc.). Also, their hospitals are under-supplied so a lot of their medical professionals end up contracting it (I think the stat I read said 30% of cases so far have been medical staff or something). This has lead to a shortage in medical staff that the world is trying to help make up for sending doctors, but the shortage in staff and beds would cause it to spread more.
It's just an ugly cycle.
