As of yesterday, I hate subways, they are loud, creepy, dark, lack cell service, and no matter how many people are inboard, they still scare the shit out of me.

Moscow underground: chandeliers, stained glass, gold, everything was clean and orderly.

First time in New York underground: a dripping tunnel of sleeping hobos, exposed metal beams and grimy tiles, was told someone had shot two cops on the subway later that day.

London underground: Alright. Somewhere between the two.

LA: super creepy, half the lights in the cars and on the platforms are broken, and there are many strange noises that can be heard in the shadows.

So like Metro 2033, but with (hopefully) less mutants?

But still all the ghosts. Remember, Kevak, don't touch the shadows if there's no one casting them...

Don't forget the most dangerous type of ghost of them all.

Ghost trains.

Which was, as I recall, also full of more ghosts.

I'm assuming the strange noises were mutants and the shadows were both alive and very hungry.

I just stayed in the light.

I did see a random hobo walk into the shadows and completely vanish even though I should have been able to see him, so.. Maybe ghost? Maybe got eaten?

I didn't notice any ghost trains though. Luckly.

China underground: occasional hawker, lots of plastic and tile, lots of advertisements. Nobody at night, cause they sit down past 11pm

Talking about subways remind me of my eldritch horror text adventure set in the Berlin subways that I should reboot at one point.

Never been in a subway.  It is rather unsettling to imagine using one.

I'm not sure if the occasional underground train station here counts as a subway.

I've been on the subway in Toronto, but that's it. It's fairly well lit, looks like you'd expect a subway. Didn't see many/any homeless though some of the stairways smell faintly of urine... I found the empty stations the eeriest.

Whatever you say, the NYC subway is awesome - it's so shallow! In DC you need to go down a hundred meters or more, but in NYC you just go down a flight of stairs...

Same in Toronto.

The main issue with Toronto subways, I think, is the police presence: There isn't any. And the last thing I heard, even when there was a cop on, a dude got a stabbing and the cop did nothing. That could have been a seperate subway system, but I'm pretty sure it was the Toronto system.
