The idea that the gaming industry could crash due to EA, like it almost did back in '83.

I don't see how it could really crash. There's just too many devs and publishers out there, plus indie teams which self-publish. Even if EA implodes the industry will survive.

Besides, Valve, Bethesda, EA, and Nintendo still exist.

I mean, sure, Nintendo isn't exactly doing stuff for PC games, but they are still a force to be reckoned with for game developers.

Most people here (and I said most, so don't say I'm generalizing) have their view on EA's relevance tinted because EA does dominate the games for their demographic (which is mostly adult male. Again, I said mostly, so don't say I'm generalizing) and they don't often play games like, say Katamari Damacy.

I was reminded of a time last year when Mom and my brother accisentally found something extremely freaky in the pool.

I had decided that I didn't want to go in with them, so I was in the house. While Mom was in there, she stepped on something. She figured it was a leaf, so she picked it up without her foot. It wa not a leaf. It was this MASSIVE beetle. Like, the size of her foot, or bigger. Needless to say, she was terrified, my brother was terrified as well. They threw it out of the pool, and when I saw it on the ground, I was terrified. And no, it wasn't dead... it was an underwater beetle, very much alive, and moving. With eggs on its legs.

So, er, yeah. Out of curiosity, would anyone happen to know where such a demonspawn could have been created?

Well, I know there's a type of large water beetle that like to live in/around where small evergreen hedges and such are grown commercially. We used to get a few in on shipments of the bushes when I worked at a Walmart garden center, they're huge, flat-ish, and fly. They were quite attracted to the parking lot lights, and you could hear them ramming them at night.
