That has surprisingly little in common with drinking apparatus. Are you sure it is terrifying?

Well, after surfing Slipknot videos on Youtube for a while and then looking at that picture, I can safely say that I felt at least some terror at the sight of it. :o Eeeep.

All the talk in the RAAAAGGEEE thread about nuclear weaponry. The idea that there is enough ordnance on the planet to completely and utterly destroy it if the right people wanted to freaks me out, to be honest. While there are a lot of things you can do to make yourself feel safer, there is really nothing that can be done by an individual about the death bombs lurking underground except go to sleep and pretend they aren't there.

You could become the president of the USA and promote global nuclear disarmament.

I will work on that. In the meantime, awe and fear.

(Also, I don't think that the U.S. president on his own would be able to come close to eliminating the most of nuclear weaponry, even if he were superhumanly charismatic.)

Its easy, you just need to not sleep with the interns.
Well, I say it is easy, but historically that may not be true.

Well, now that I've seen this, I have realized I have no need to be afraid of nuclear bombs. The snails are going to get us first :( (Video is of a snail eating a worm. It's SCARY.)

EDIT: And another, of a giant snail picking up and eating a smaller snail, while horrifying music plays in the background. This stuff is scary! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_aZnfMZ0hs#at=98

A friend sent me to this. Short kind of game where you get an insomniac girl to fall asleep. It uses your webcam to sense if your room is dark, and when you turn the lights out...things get interesting. I won't spoil anything though, go check it out.
how long till it gets scary?

Oh bull. The is not enough nuclear ordinance to wipe out human kind anymore. There used to be, but the hippies got to it first. Even then the nukes were weaker. See here. Of course, there are enough to wipe out what we might call the whole of civilization, but humans themselves will continue to live, although conservatively for a while.

We're damned resilient. We've survived stuff from before. Bad stuff. Rocks from space that desolated the Sahara into what it is today.

You underestimate the power of ex-soviet leaders. You'd have to convince Putin, AND Kim Jong-Un? Obama can't get either to even reduce them.

I for one am rather comforted that we have enough ordnance to end civilization. No metal box left unturned if needs be, and if global warming is about to kill us all we might will always have the option to go out with a bang. BOOM! Planet shot.

You underestimate the power of ex-soviet leaders. You'd have to convince Putin, AND Kim Jong-Un? Obama can't get either to even reduce them.
Funny since P00tin and Augustus Obama have already agreed on downsizing their nuclear arsenals dramatically, and Kim Got-Un nuke.
