How fares the bleeding issue?

I had a job in a grocery store for... Three days. No experience, came in at 50% employment because of mental illness, and they weren't very happy about those reduced hours and asked if I couldn't just push a little longer because "The first few days are an important learning experience" and "You just won't get the same effect from fewer hours".

I didn't take them up on the offer. I still ended up quitting after the three days, as I was slightly concerned about how my nightly routine after work had become 1) Cry uncontrollably while shambling home, 2) Beat my hands bloody on hard-packed snow and ice, 3) Assume fetal position and pretend tomorrow didn't exist. Also the increased alcohol intake.

There was also that whole thing with how they didn't have any uniform pants in my size, so I spent my time there wobbling around with "The Nutcracker Suite" playing in my nethers. Even just one day of persistent testicular pressure is enough to reduce mood slightly.

Oh, yeah... And since I was only there for four hours a day (technically. I didn't have a watch, wasn't allowed to have my phone, and nobody told me when my shift was over), I didn't get to have breaks either.

It hasn't killed me yet. More's the pity.


@Kagus: I need to try doing the 'foetal position' thing more often. If only I lived alone I'd try screaming at the same time.

I work practised/interned (whatever the phrase is) in a grocery store for two years as part of rehabilitation, I thought it was Great and everyone was super nice, both colleagues and customers.

Meh, I've been meaning to see about that emergency dental service that is apparently available here, but even though it's very reasonably priced I am very broke and need to pay rent/bartenders.

Maybe I'll make it a birthday present to myself.

Do prioritize it above alcohol if you can. If you let dental issues linger, they tend to get worse.

Oh, yeah, I ended up seeing said emergency dentist - apparently it's just a really bad case of gingivitis. As I've described here and there in other threads, it's not exactly fun to deal with (I'm pretty sure flossing originated as some medieval torture before being repurposed) but at least it's not some infection likely to kill me or anything.

That reminds me, I do still need to find a dentist where I can book in to get regular, professional cleans done...
