Probably equally as idiotic as the kid in my year level at highschool who decided to touch a mixture of washing powder, water, sugar and cryolite. It froths up into immensely hot black sludge. Immensely hot immensely sticky black sludge.
He started screaming because he couldn't get the mixture off his hand, to transfer it to another hand burnt the other hand.

Thats not so bad TBH. Done similar accidentally a few times through being lazy/clumsy.  Now, mercury vapour, that would have been unpleasant.

Also, I haven't been terrified for a while. Hrm. I think the last time was having to walk past this incredibly drunk/stoned-looking dude on my way home a week or two ago. Luckily by the time I neared him, he'd sort of lapsed into a near-comatose state, leaning against a wall, staring at his hand whilst flexing it back and forth.

My Chemistry teacher back in HS managed to set herself on fire once. The old thunder in a bottle trick can be explosive when you forget to clean out the beaker.

One day we were working with concentrated esters. Good god my poor nose As I may have mentioned, my sense of smell is abnormally acute. Esters smell very, very strongly. Cue the nasal equivalent of a strobe light.
