Exam tomorrow. Might actually go well, but I feel like I'm going to bomb.

An exam in what? Do tell. Nucular physicals? Positronic Matrices? Flux Polarity Capacitators? Math?
Models of Set Theory. It's to normal pure mathematics what cellular biology is to ornithology enthusiasts.

I note there is a thing called a "magma" within this study. We've got your back, man, no one knows magma like BAY 12.

Reminds me of all those stories of cave divers who never come back. Never in a million years will you get me to go into an underwater cave system. I have no mental problem going to a hundred feet but caves are terrifying.
Penetration & wreck diving is a whole lot of nope. I don't like the idea of getting lost when I have a time limit on air. Leave it to robits
Even animals like dolphins and turtles that evolved to navigate the seas cannot into caves

Personally for me drowning, and specifically slowly asphyxiating in an enclosed space under water (including diving suits/breath equipment running out) is probably one of my absolute worst feared ways of dying.

I've almost drowned in a slow flowing tannin rich freshwater river.
I couldn't swim as a young child and I sunk to the bottom after struggling and losing will/energy it became peaceful as the water pushed against my internal air pressure and my nose slowly filled with liquid I inhaled water so I tried to cough and more filled me.
As much as I struggled it had a peace to it for some reason.
Perhaps the steady stream or the fresh water, I've heard drowning in salted is different.
Once I drowned in salted chips but thats an experience for a later day.

I will only go cave diving if I have a way to quickly off myself if I get caught in unpleasant fates.

I kinda imagine any of those ways of dying is a bit like trying to sleep when in pain. At first it's awful and unpleasant and painful and you can't stand it, but comes a moment of acceptance, where you can still feel the pain and acknowledge the pain, but it becomes detached and abstract, almost peaceful. And then nothingness.

May have put more thought into that than is healthy, though.

That just means it'll get stuck somewhere and be the thing to drag you down in an ironic twist of fate.

I can't imagine a situation where you're diving in caves or wreckage such that you can't get out that a rope would help. There are so many ways it could snag on something or snarl you, and basically as soon as you turn a corner it becomes almost useless for getting you out.

It's not for being pulled out, it's for following the rope back to it's origin. Like breadcrumbs, but better.

It would help against getting lost, like a bread-crumb trail. Follow it back out.
